How Do We Keep Our Bodies Healthy?
This term 4C have been learning all about how to keep our bodies healthy!
So far we have done lots of work (and lots of homework!) on healthy foods to eat (yum yum!)….and thinking about the foods we should try not to eat too often (goodbye chocolate and crisps!).
We have lots more work to do on exercise (with Sports Day coming up soon too - hurray), how our body works and the things we shouldn’t do to keep healthy and live long and happy lives!
Bye Bye Mrs Crook!
4C ended last term with a fun-filled GOODBYE party for
Mrs Crook, who is leaving Birchfields until next year to have her new baby boy!
We will be very sad to see you go Mrs Crook, but we are looking forward to ending the year with our new teacher – Mrs Maroulis!
Welcome to 4C Mrs Maroulis!

For our topic this term, 4C have been asking ‘what is our favourite country?’
We’ve already done lots of research and enjoyed learning all about the wildlife, geography, Masaai people and culture in Tanzania!
Last week, 4C worked really hard on our mini-projects! The class left England and set off to destinations all around the world ! We all did lots of research on the language, dress, religion, currency, geography and food (yum yum) of Chile, St Lucia, Madagascar, Australia and Sudan.
Each group then delivered some EXCELLENT presentations and shared all the INTERESTING information we’d found out from the rest of the class. It was a fabulously fun and very interesting afternoon for us all! Mrs Crook and Miss Gerrard had a great time learning lots of new facts from the children too!
In ICT have looked at different recipes and have been making ourselves super hungry thinking about food from all around the world. Pizza from Italy, hamburgers from America, sushi from Japan, curries from India…mmm, DELICIOUS!

Last Thursday, 4C kicked off their themed Pirate Day with a fabulous assembly! Well done 4C - Miss Palmar and Miss Gerrard were very proud! Once we’d entertained the school with our pirate facts, songs, limericks and fancy dress we headed back to the classroom for a very busy D & T lesson, making pirate ships and hats!
After a lively morning we all enjoyed an afternoon at the ‘cinema’, when Miss Palmar transformed the classroom into a movie theatre!
Thank you Miss Palmar for such a fun day! We have really enjoyed learning all about pirates with you in our topic work this half term! We will all miss you…come back and see us again soon!

4C enjoyed a trip back in time on Monday when we visited Dunham Massey for our Victorian topic work. We spent the day dressed up as Victorian children looking for work with Mr Adams, the Game Keeper, Betty, the Gardener and Mr Hughes, the Head Footman! The whole class was exhausted by the end of the day after polishing silverware, making soap, baking bread and churning butter. We had a great day and had a lot of fun learning about the Victorians, but we were all pleased to return to 2009!
